He was one of the standouts of Denmark’s Melodi Grand Prix where he asserted himself as pop force to be reckoned with, and now Adel the Second returns with new single, Potential. The track follows Unluckiest Boy Alive and Fair Game, marking the Danish star’s third single.
Speaking of the meaning of the track, Adel (real name Oliver Adelborg) shared: “This song goes out to all the folks who didn’t get the job they were looking for best. For those who never made it to date number 2, even though the chemistry was fucking great and you made them laugh 3.5 times and you really thought it would turn into something. For those who didn’t get the cheap dream room in inner Copenhagen, where you could just throw the lakes out of the window if you stretched your neck. For those who were elected in a national referendum. I got your back. Maybe you’re not really something special, but there’s fucking potential!” [Translated]
He closes noting: “That’s my 3rd one. single now. I’m fucking looking forward to it. I think this song is mega funny. This is so me, actually.” The star is spot on, with his tracks combining wit and humour with catchy pop-hooks and warm-hearted production. Adel writes and produces the track, with additional production from Morits Wille and Frederik Nordsø.
