Dagny lit up March with her sparkling pop anthem Dancefloor Erotica earlier this year, and now continues her crusade through the dance-pop world with Closet Disco Queen. Both songs precede Dagny’s upcoming new album, which is set to arrive this summer.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the brilliantly titled track, Dagny shares: “Closet Disco Queen was written after having been to a work party and seeing someone completely lose themselves, and all sense of space and time, on the dancefloor. I immediately felt that ‘I need more of that in my life’. Having become increasingly more self-conscious over the last few years and finding it harder and harder to open up and let people see all sides of myself, Closet Disco Queen has become my reminder not to be afraid to open up, to dance and move and live loudly out in the open. It’s a refusal to be embarrassed or self-conscious anymore. A celebration of expressing yourself.”
“Be yourself / love yourself / express yourself” the Norwegian hitmaker repeats throughout the track, which is produced by Matias Tellez (girl in red, AURORA) and co-written with Nick Hahn (ZAYN, Mimi Webb, aespa). The empowering vibe shines through on this dazzling synth-driven number, complete with a sleek, danceable pulse and euphoric hooks.
