Cody Simpson Shares New Track ‘Fluent’ as He Continues Musical Comeback

Australian star Cody Simpson has been battling recovery following surgery on both his vocal cords and knee, but the musician continues to push forward with the release of new music in the form of Fluent. The track follows Cody’s successful double single Baby Blue/When It Comes to Loving You, released earlier this year, with all three tracks expected to feature on the star’s upcoming album.

Cody shares: “The album and live shows have to wait, but I’ve got some work to share while I’m down for the count. You can’t hold me down! I’ll be back stronger. FYI, we still shot the music video…”

Fluent sees the musician co-write alongside Drew Trosclaire, Jacob Lutz and Steven Cheung, with nostalgic guitar-driven production crafted by Cody, Harrison Borts, Tele Fresco, Jacob Wice and Nicholas Creus. The track centres around communicating romantic signals through body language, with Cody singing: “I think I know just what you’re saying, but your lips ain’t moving / Look in your eyes tells me you like it that I’m tryna pursue it / Whatever the work is, girl, I’m telling you, that’s what I’m ’bout to be doing / When it comes to you and your body language, baby, I wanna be fluent…”

Fans will need to remain patient while Cody continues his recovery, but thankfully he has delivered plenty of musical gems to enjoy while we wait. With Fluent adding to his growing collection of new material, anticipation will only continue to build for his upcoming album.
