Chris Housman Shares His Story On Impressive New Album 'Dodge City'

US country star Chris Housman has released his new album Dodge City, his sophomore LP which follows his 2024 release Blueneck. Chris has been teasing the project for several months, dropping singles including Up and Down, Dirt on Me and Cowman, but the tracks gain a fresh lease of life within the context of the fourteen-track album.

The album is inspired by Chris’s hometown of Dodge City, a place with which the star has a conflicting relationship. Appropriately titled Dodge City, the sophomore album is an homage to the place that shaped Chris, but which he ultimately knew he would have to leave in order to realise his dreams as a country artist and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community.

The star shared an extensive Instagram post about the album’s origins, including reflecting on his current relationship with the city:

“I now think of Dodge City less as a place I ran away from, and more of a place that made me who I am. My sophomore album ‘Dodge City’ is the album that came out of fully accepting that I don’t need to run away from myself. I may have had to get the hell out of Dodge, but I don’t have to shed the influences and experiences that shaped me. Bringing these hometown influences, including playing fiddle on five of the album’s songs, and merging them with the person I am today has resulted in the work I’m most proud of to date. I hope it inspires others to lean as hard as they can into their whole truth as well. Welcome to Dodge City, Chris’s version. Where everyone is welcome to be exactly who they are.”
