Carly Simon makes a welcome return to pop music with her first new album of original material since 2008, scheduled for release on 14 August. Titled Comes in Waves, the album is accompanied by Carly’s powerful new single Peaches, a breezy pop number with a deeper sentiment at its heart.
According to a press release, the track is about ‘the gap between what should come naturally, the things everyone takes for granted, and the parts of yourself that just don’t cooperate, no matter how obvious or “correct” the feeling should be.’
The album features nine brand new original songs, alongside a couple of tracks that Simon wrote earlier in her life and has now chosen to revisit. Comes in Waves was produced by Simon’s longtime collaborator Paul Samwell-Smith and features appearances from her children, Ben and Sally Taylor.
