Cara Delevingne is a true multi-hyphenate: fashion icon, actress, musician, and, most notably, goddaughter to Dame Joan Collins. After various collaborations and soundtrack contributions over the years, Cara now steps forward with her own standalone solo music in the form of a double single, I Forgot and Out of My Head.
The tracks are set to feature on Cara’s debut album, which will be released via Warner Records in late summer. She will also be embarking on a number of tour dates throughout the year. The star co-produces with BJ Burton.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Cara explained her desire to challenge public perception: “There was this thing of wanting it to feel like the real me was breaking through the phone, trying to break out of this version of myself that people had known or had preconceived or whatever. Which is why having those moments of purity break through that industrial, processed sound felt really good.”
The new material leans into hyperpop and trip-hop influences, while also showcasing a danceable electropop edge. She added: “I wanted this kind of music to feel like pop music in the sense of just getting it to the most ears. If anyone can hear it and feel something, that’s all I want.”
On the release, Cara said: “Writing ‘I Forgot’ felt like a rebirth for me and ‘Out Of My Head’ was like going to therapy. Everything has felt like it’s led up to this point and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
