Cameron Hawthorn Releases Debut Album ‘Church of the Outlaws’, Thailand Set Video for ‘Kindred Spirit’

US musician Cameron Hawthorn has impressed with EPs over the years, giving us country classics such as Dancing in the Living Room, Oh Hot Damn, and Country Boy Two-Step. Now the singer-songwriter explores new musical textures on his debut album Church Of The Outlaws.

Listeners will be familiar with previous releases from the album including Outlaw, Natural and Midnight Rider. These have showcased a darker pop flavour with electronic dance production touches, yet retaining Cameron’s distinctive country vocal.

Cameron shares: “CHURCH OF THE OUTLAWS has been two years in the making and it has been the most creatively freeing, reviving and thrilling, scary, challenging, and fulfilling pieces of work I have ever done. I am always growing as an artist and I never want to stop growing.”

He adds: “When I feel like I’m hitting some kind of stagnant plateau with my art, and in my life really, I feel the urge — the call — to dig deeper. I was beginning to feel that before I started working on the album and I knew it was time to take things to a level I had been wanting to go to.

On the themes behind the album, Cameron noted: “This collection of songs have all been birthed out of the last three years or so of my life in Texas, inspired much by music on the dance floor in places around the world I have traveled to: on the cliffsides of Mykonos, late into the night in the hot and sweaty Madrid and São Paulo, in the dark underground of Berlin and Amsterdam. I’ve had pulse-racing nights in New York City with characters and friends who have been woven into these songs and stories…and my nights in Miami, oh where to begin. Raised in Kansas but now living out in the country in Texas, I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d go to Thailand (twice, but more recently a few months ago) and come face-to-face with myself spiritually. I bring my experiences and stories to you through the lens and journey of the Outlaw: someone I am and someone I have been looking for.”

The star recently took to Thailand to shoot the video for Kindred Spirit which you can watch above.
