Darkwave duo Boy Harsher make their major label debut with new album Get Mean, preceded by lead single Jeans and the recently released Hard Beat.
The album explores the aftermath of the pair, who were formerly a couple, ending their romantic relationship in early 2024. This period also brought family loss and creative uncertainty before the duo decided to continue Boy Harsher together. The full-length LP was recorded across the United States, Mexico and Italy, marking the band’s first album since the soundtrack to their directorial debut short film, The Runner, in 2022.
Hard Beat is accompanied by a horror-inspired music video drawing influence from the torture-porn classic Saw, while thematically reflecting the album’s darker emotional themes. The track pairs brooding synths with industrial electronic textures and Boy Harsher’s signature alt-pop edge.
Get Mean arrives September 18 via Atlantic.
