Benjamin Steer Unleashes Angsty Pop Energy on 'Dog Eat Dog', Announces New Tour

Benjamin Steer releases new track Dog Eat Dog, a fiery pop number brimming with angry guitars and energetic vocals from the musician. The track taps into the cutthroat nature of love and life, with the angsty, emotive style that makes the musician one of the UK’s brightest talents.

Benjamin shared the meaning behind the track with fans: “A lot of people have been asking me the meaning behind this song so here it is: I spend a lot of my time writing songs about the confusion and angst of being a young person in love and in life. A lot of ‘she never loved me’ and ‘I have no idea what is going on’ … while a lot of this is true, I think a small part of me, and a small part of you, might actually have some idea. Ultimately sometimes the best explanation for reason is that there is none. It’s a tough pill to swallow.”

He continues: “As much as I would like to say I think I haven’t; I’ve stepped on some toes to get what I want, but I’ve also been led on, and my toes are bruised. I watched this Matthew McConaughey interview once where, in response to a question that asked him how he deals with heartbreak, he responded: ‘You are the Catch, move on’. Life sucks sometimes, but you are the DOG… so woof a bit and get on with it xx. But I have a propensity for a sulk… so sulk for a bit then get on with it.”

Dog Eat Dog follows Benjamin’s previous 2026 releases Trophy and Be My Love, with the latest arriving off the back of his most recent UK and Europe tour.

Benjamin has recently announced a new tour, The Outrageously Confused Internally Optimistic Tour, picking up after his equally wonderfully named The Not So Nonchalant Tour. The British star shared: “I just missed you too much, I couldn’t wait any longer. I still don’t have a clue what’s going on… But come along to sing some songs about all the confusion, angst, and joy of continually trying to figure things out. There will be adequate vocals, slightly mis-timed jokes, a severe tendency to jump around in circles, and maybe a sprinkling of confetti. See you there.”
