Belvedere Kane Releases Lost 90s Pop Album ‘Such Trying Times’

Pop fans may remember the nineties cult classic Never Felt As Good from Belvedere Kane, released back in 1996 as the artist project of songwriter, producer and remixer Barry Stone. Barry has since worked with legends including Dannii Minogue, Steps, Rachel Stevens and Dead or Alive. To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of Never Felt As Good, Barry has announced that its previously unreleased album Such Trying Times will arrive on 13 February.

Barry shares: “I’m so excited that people are finally going to hear this album that’s been hidden away for so long. I’m extremely proud of it and so happy that I’ve been able to finish now what younger me started then.”

Such Trying Times features a surprising collaboration with Barry’s musical heroes Dead or Alive, with the producer uncovering a rediscovered off cut from the band’s Nukleopatra album sessions. When he heard Pete Burns sing the unheard lyric “I had such fun at 21, I’m gonna stay forever young,” he knew it had the makings of a hit and subsequently worked the track into the new anthem Legends (Forever Young), with the blessing of Dead or Alive’s estate.

Such Trying Times is destined to be an absolute treat for anyone who has enjoyed Barry’s pop productions. Described as “a triumph, full of synth driven, high octane pop bangers complete with thunderclaps, bombastic brass and sweeping strings,” how could you possibly resist?
