Antony Szmierek Returns with Poetic Nu-Disco Single ‘The Heron’

Antony Szmierek delivers his first new music since releasing his debut album, The Service Station At The End Of The Universe, last year. The new single is The Heron, produced by Antony alongside Max Rad. The track bounces with nu-disco production and the performer’s signature poetic, rhythmic delivery.

The inspiration for the track was sparked by the image of a heron nesting along the banks of the Mersey. Capturing a sense of being split between the water and the land, Antony saw a reflection of himself – caught between his normal life in Manchester and his newfound recognition in the public spotlight.

Antony shares: “Many of us are adrift in a world of short-form slop and a punishing news cycle, but The Heron provides a manifesto for survival. Patience, self-reliance, looping piano, and relentless bass. The lyrics imagine the bird as a sort of preacher – an antidote to modern malaise and a reminder to enjoy the stillness as well as the dance. You’ll never be alone again, my love.”

Antony has established an impressive pop niche thanks to his intelligent lyrics and poetic imagery set over intoxicating, French house-style beats. The star previously found success with album tracks including Yoga Teacher, The Great Pyramid of Stockport, and Rafters.
