Janelle Monáe and Southern Gothic horror? It sounds like a match made in heaven. The singer-songwriter and actress teams-up with Christopher Renz and Gerard Bush for Antebellum, a horror from Lionsgate, which hits cinemas on April 24th.
Renz and Bush have collaborated on numerous short films, with Antebellum marking their debut as feature filmmakers. The pair also writer this horror which sees a successful author trapped in a world where the horrors of the American South’s past begin to rear their head.
Lionsgate’s official synopsis notes:
Successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe) finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late. ANTEBELLUM is a terrifying new thriller from the producer of the acclaimed films GET OUT and US, and groundbreaking directors Gerard Bush and Christoper Renz (Bush+Renz) – an exciting new voice in filmmaking.
Antebellum is in cinemas from April 24th 2020.
