Diahann Carroll: Her Best Moments

We were deeply saddened by the news about Diahann Carroll’s passing. Broadway, music, film and television star Diahann was an undeniable trailblazer being the first Black actress nominated for a Tony in 1962.

She would go on to receive an Oscar nomination for 1975’s Claudine, star as the iconic fierce queen Dominque Devereaux in Dynasty, and lead a heavily-lauded Canadian run of Sunset Boulevard in the mid-nineties. The performer continued to work in the entertainment world until 2016.

We’ve compiled a few of our favourite Diahann moments from film, television, music and theatre below.

Her “Dynasty” Arrival (1984) – “I require one bedroom for my wardrobe, one for myself.”

Dynasty – Alexis and Dominique’s Catfight “Everyone knows you’re nothing but a second-rate lounge act”

Sunset Boulevard – “As If We Never Said Goodbye”

Sunset Boulevard – “With One Look

Sunset Boulevard – “The Greatest Star of All

Claudine (1975) – Worthy of every bit Oscar-nommed aplomb

“Send in the Clowns” – A gorgeous rendition of the Sondheim classic

Her OWN Masterclass – A tale of personal strength and overcoming abandonment.
