US Musician Conor Matthews Prepares ‘Magic’ Album, Releases Honest New Pop Track ‘Liar’

Singer-songwriter Conor Matthews continues his journey toward the release of his studio album Magic with a brand new track, Liar.

The emotive pop number showcases Conor’s smooth vocals and impressive storytelling, with the Chicago-born musician collaborating with co-writer Riley Thomas. The track’s production is handled by 94skrt, Andrew Baylis, and Nathan Keeterle, with its building mid-tempo and gently absorbing musical craftsmanship drawing in listeners with ease.

Conor shares: “This song is a special one for me, so it felt right to share some of the story behind it. I’ve made A LOT of mistakes in my life that hurt people around me. I wrote this song at my lowest point in California—alcoholic, going broke, career dying, pushing away the people who loved me. When things weren’t going my way, I didn’t believe I deserved to be loved, and that belief led me to start searching for validation in all the wrong places.”

He continues: “It turned me into somebody I didn’t recognize—it turned me into a liar. I’ll let you listen to the song to understand what that means, but I hope this record reaches someone who’s struggling. I’m grateful today for the people around me who picked me back up and saw more in me than my mistakes.”

Conor drops his album Magic on August 8. It’s set to include Liar, along with previous singles Slow One, Kicked Outta Heaven, and Pieces. You can see the full tracklist below:
