Belinda Carlisle Announces New Cover Album ‘Once Upon a Time in California’, Releases ‘Air That I Breathe’

Belinda Carlisle made a triumphant return to the pop world with her Kismet EP in 2023 with some fantastic original tunes. She now returns to slightly more familiar recent territory with a freshly announced covers album, influenced by her California childhood, Once Upon a Time in California.

The first taste of the 29 August scheduled album is The Air That I Breathe from Albert Hammond, with Belinda’s version showcasing her charismatic vocals and woozy So-Cal production from Gabe Lopez.

Other familiar tracks on the album include If You Could Read My Mind from Gordon Lightfoot, Everybody’s Talkin’ from Harry Nilsson, and Delaney & Bonnie’s Superstar. Belinda’s impressive version of The Air That I Breathe having us feeling optimistic about the set.

The 10-track album is available in limited edition signed versions on CD and a ‘sunset’ coloured vinyl, as well as a limited picture disc. See the full tracklist below.
