South Korea’s SM Entertainment launched a new project with the BBC to craft a Western band orientated towards the K-Pop market. The result was dearALICE who went through the rigorous training performance expected of K-Pop stars, depicted in BBC reality series Made in Korea: The K-Pop Experience and resulting in the group’s debut EP. The British five-piece now forge ahead with new music in the form of Ariana, a number that looks set to test the impact of their television debut.
The group consists of members Blaise Noon, James Sharp, Olly Quinn, Dexter Greenwood and Reese Carter, who all shared their excitement about the new track: “We are thrilled and overjoyed to finally release our debut song ‘Ariana,’ which contains all of our passion. We are so happy and grateful to share this moment with the fans who have waited for us.”
Ariana is a catchy electropop number that sees the group pair up with London-based Danish producer Siba, who has worked with stars including Ed Sheeran and Rita Ora. The synth-driven number packs a big chorus into this tale of longing for someone who continually feels out of reach – it recounts a boyfriend competing with his partner’s obsession with celebrity culture and social media.
