German DJ and producer Claptone recruits the vocals of the iconic Barry Manilow for Nobody, taken from the former’s album Closer. The pair release a plethora of remixes for the track which was produced by Stuart Price and Claptone and written by Barry Manilow, Claptone and Enoch Anderson.
Barry shares that he was keen to jump on the track with Claptone because he was “looking for a Dusty Springfield/Pet Shop Boys moment”. Well he certainly got that and it makes us wonder why Barry has not really pursued the dance music route? Barry does have a fair few dance-centric tracks in his repertoire such as Could It Be Magic and I’m Your Man yet this is not a realm that the New Yorker often inhabits.
The original album track is joined by four new remixes in the freshly dropped EP including contributions from Erobique and CINTHIE. You can stream these above.
We certainly think Nobody is good enough to spark a Claptone produced album of Barry bangers.
