Lady A welcome the Summer on new single Summer State Of Mind, a breezy mid-tempo centred on comparing a new love to the magic of the hot season. Written by Dave Haywood, Hillary Scott, Laura Veltz and Sam Ellis – the latter who also produces – Summer State Of Mind is the group’s first new music since their 2021 What a Song Can Do album.
“You turn this kitchen into a tiki bar / It’s like June and July go wherever you are / And wherever you are is where I wanna be / When you’re shining, shining on me, woo…” the trio sing on the chorus of this ready made Summer hit. The song comes alongside a new video which captures the country stars cycling down a suburban street and relaxing at a pool party.
Hillary shares: “When we got together and wrote this song a few months ago it almost started writing itself. We were all looking ahead to the warmer months and those easygoing moments that we enjoy most. When we had a chance to perform the song for the first time during CMA Fest, the fans really got in the spirit – it was the perfect way to kick off the summer.”
A press release adds that the trio plan to spontaneously release new music over the coming months, creating and connecting with fans in real time.
