Robin Bengtsson returns with his first single since his Melodifestivalen treat Innocent Love. His follow-up, titled Don’t You Dare is an instant delight shining as a heartfelt, yet slick and fresh pop number.
Opening with electronic production that gradually transforms from sparse to soaring, Don’t You Dare is an eighties flavoured anthem that channels a sincere emotion amongst its absorbing production. Written and produced by Joy Deb, the single also features writing contributions from Robin, Isa Molin, Myra Granberg and Noak Hellsing.
With a rousing chorus, Robin sings “So don’t you dare, don’t you go away / Don’t you dare let it go to waste / Don’t you know, don’t you know / The darker the night, the brighter the lights will stay…” against a melody that sticks with listeners. This is an instant crowdpleaser and intriguingly sees Robin also delve into some Swedish language lyrics – an inventive touch.
