Ti West makes his return to horror features with X – his first major feature film in the genre since 2013’s cult horror The Sacrament. The project, a collaboration with A24, sees the cast of an X-rated adult film encounter a murderous presence on the rural set of their latest shoot.
With a cast that includes Brittany Snow, Jenna Ortega, Mia Goth, Kid Cudi and Martin Henderson, West has assembled an interesting collection of names for X which looks set to be a suspenseful, blood-soaked welcome back to the genre for the filmmaker. The full synopsis is as follows: “In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make an adult film in a secluded farmhouse in rural Texas. Their reclusive, elderly hosts take a special interest in their young guests and, as night falls in, the couple’s leering interest takes a violent turn.”
West’s last feature film was the Ethan Hawke, John Travolta starring western In a Valley of Violence back in 2016. He has since directed within the horror and sci-fi genres on television in the likes of The Exorcist, Wayward Pines, Them and Tales from the Loop.
X arrives in US theatres March 18th. International dates to follow.
