GION Blends Nostalgia and Optimism on Absorbing New Pop Track ‘Ruin It for the Next One’

Italian born rising talent GION has been making a name for himself in his now home of Montreal, delivering two EPs and a multitude of singles in recent years. GION gears up to release the third part of his EP collection, following Loved You Since College (Act I) and I Hurt You, I Don’t Deserve You (Act II). The handsome rising talent gives us a taste of the expected collection with Ruin It for the Next One.

The track’s pre-chorus sees GION croon: “You won’t ruin it for the next one / Or make me jaded towards somebody else / Who even loves me even when I hate myself/ You won’t ruin it for the next one…” which packs a hopeful tone about moving forward and reflection. GION shares: RIFTNO” is the conclusion to a three part trilogy of EPs that were written about this singular relationship that when it ended, felt like the equivalent of the world ending as well.

Reflecting on this sense of optimism, the video for RIFTNO conjures up an atmosphere of promising nostalgia as it sees GION explore an empty High School. The singer shares more about the sentiment behind the track: “It’s this intentional promise to one’s self, that no matter how hurt or badly your previous experience and relationship might have been, you won’t allow wounds of the past to compromise a hope for a future.

GION will release his next EP What We Thought We Were (Act III) on December 17th.
