Carla Gugino stars as Elektra Luxx, a porn star who recently discovers she’s pregnant. Luxx tries to settle down and live a normal life (well as normal a life as a former-porn star can). However chaos ensues as fiancees, private investigators, a twin sister and even the Virgin Mary force her to face up to an unexpected series of decisions and revelations.
Why we’re excited?
To be perfectly honest, I’d never heard of this film until accidentally stumbling across the poster online. The film is a sequel to the 2009 comedy Women In Love, also about Luxx and with Gutierrez directing again. The film has done quite well at film festival screenings and it’s subject matter has gained a bit of attention. Judging from the trailer, Elektra Luxx looks like an entertaining look at the adult film world and the possible difficulties transitioning to a normal life after. The film essentially appears to be a farce with an excellent cast and quick script from Guiterrez, and judging by the trailer, there is some very fun performances (JG. Levitt & Gugino). So hopefully the film will get quite a wide release!
