Carla Bruni follows up her stellar 2020 self-titled French-language album with an unexpected new collaboration. The delicate-voiced chanteuse joins forces with singer-songwriter Tanya Chua on heartfelt new duet Photographs.
The track is an intriguing fusion of global forces with dual language lyrics flowing throughout a gentle guitar melody. Tanya writes and produces Photographs with the soft and inviting tones of Carla and Tanya drawing listeners into the woozy, romantic anthem.
Tanya is one of Asia’s biggest musical talents, signed to Universal Music China and reaching over 800,000 monthly Spotify listeners. On Instagram, Carla shared her delight at being featured on the track, noting: “Thank you Tanya for the invitation to sing with you on your new single “Photographs” It was great fun learning some words in Chinese.”
Tanya shared: “Call it a case of serendipity for lack of better word. Who’d ever thought two female musicians from different sides of the world would ‘meet’ and collaborate under such trying and uncertain times. And so happened there was a song which I wrote called Photographs. We ‘met’, we clicked and then decided, we love this song so let’s sing this together. In Chinese too.”
