German artist NINA’s most recent studio album Synthian was a true standout of 2020, blending new wave, electronic and pop music to create a stunning synthwave fusion. The singer has since followed this up with EPs The Beginning and Control, but now returns with a brand new single Carnival Night.
The singer told Wonderland magazine: “‘Carnival Night’ is a song about running wild and surrendering to magic and desire. It’s a special song for me because it’s my first release as an independent artist. Coming up with the theme and creating this track was the perfect way to emotionally escape the confines of the pandemic; we wanted to create a world and get lost in it.”
The track is produced by Radio Wolf and written by Nina and Oliver Blair. It packs an otherworldly eighties-inspired energy using the mystical imagery of the carnival, paired with sharp synths and Nina’s ethereal vocals.
