Like countless others, we have still been bopping away to Darin’s return to English language recording Can’t Stay Away, the handsome Swedish pop talent floored us with the elegant disco anthem – blending nostalgic seventies groove with slick contemporary production. It’s a joyous feelgood anthem that has now been accompanied by a kaleidoscopic music video showcasing the star decked out in silks, velvet and adorned in glitter in a dreamy party environment. James Velasquez directs the latest video which pays homage to the visually-rich world of disco music.
The track was co-written by Darin with Jamie Hartman and Matthew Burns – who also produce. Darin croons “So what do I do if I can’t stay away? I just keep on moving till you’re next me, What do I do if I can’t stay away? I can’t help getting closer than we’re meant to be…” against a seventies-influenced disco-beat with swirling Moroder inspired synths. It’s an elegant slice of Darin’s next musical chapter, with an album hopefully following in the not too distant future.
Darin shared his excitement about the new music on Instagram: “Today feels like the start of a new chapter for me, as an artist, but also personally. I’ve been so touched by the responses to my coming out post last summer. I can’t wait for you to hear the music I’m making. This finally feels so much like the part of me I’ve wanted to share for some time now. Enjoy ‘Can’t Stay Away'”
