Rising musical talent Robert O’Connor may be familiar to Culture Fix readers after his impressive Transcendence EP which we featured back in November 2020. The Irish star changes direction for his latest track Save You – a collaboration with producer Gareth Shortland who has credits working with talents such as STEPS and Will Young.
Save You is a nostalgic club anthem that draws inspiration from nineties dance powerhouses SASH! and Chicane. Robert notes: “When it comes to songwriting, my best work comes fast and is rarely altered from its original state. If the melody feels weak or the lyric doesn’t resonate, it goes in the bin.” Fast seems like the optimum word here – the track is a pulse-pounding club gem that feels plucked straight from the late-nineties in the best possible way.
