Swedish pop royalty The Mamas take on a sixties pop classic, Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, with the ladies presenting a fresh spin on the familiar anthem. Pairing with producers Joy Deb and Benjamin Mjönes, The Mamas deliver joyous breezy fun on their first track since Melodifestivalen gem In the Middle.
The Mamas note: “Even though it’s a song with playful lyrics wrapped in a fun summery beat, it comes with an important message about the journey from body shaming to body positivity; a modern take on a classic tale of the perfect beauty standards and impossible societal norms that affect our confidence, image and self-worth, and how to break away from them. From “in the locker she wanted to stay”, to “showing her curves, honey she came to SLAY!””
Production from Deb and Mjönes energises the sixties pop favourite, delivering a sense of oomph and fun to the fold. The Mamas sound gorgeous and hammer home a message of optimism and sense of body positivity on the track with lines such as “showing her curves, honey she came to SLAY!”
The Mamas also celebrate the release by starting the #ItsyBitsyDance challenge on TikTok wearing their yellow polka dot bikinis.
