Don’t panic! We’re not plugging singer-songwritery guitar music now. Jack Savoretti has severely changed things up stylistically for his latest single Who’s Hurting Who featuring Nile Rodgers), which precedes his upcoming album Europiana. The album is scheduled for June 25th, with Jack noting that it draws some similarities with his previous studio album Singing to Strangers:
“’Singing to Strangers’ was my first album that wasn’t all about me, which I loved.“’Europiana’ pushes that further. There are more characters and bigger concepts. I’m looking out at the world, not inwards. Europiana’ isn’t a sound. It’s references and inspirations and the emotions they evoke, it’s the music of my childhood summers, remade for today.”
The single is an electronic pop delight that retains the elegant classy style of Jack’s previous releases, yet adds twanging basslines and swirling disco-flavours. Jack’s husky tones suit the glamorous dance production, with Nile Rodgers’ contributions adding further charm of which the singer noted: “Nile brings groove, glamour and chic that is everything that ‘Europiana’ is. Europiana wouldn’t exist without Nile Rodgers!”
