After being a hit for both Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood and Johnny Cash and June Carter, Jackson now gets a new version from the almost as legendary Trixie Mattel and Orville Peck. The 1963 classic penned by Billy Edd Wheeler and Jerry Leiber (originally released by Wheeler) concerns a couple looking to re-ignite the spark in their relationship with a trip to Jackson.
Orville and Trixie’s version is brimming with energy, with the masked crooner and drag sensation bringing their expected wit and charm to the raucous country anthem. Both performers manage to channel this in the video for the single which sees them hit the stage in an empty auditorium.
The track follows Orville’s Show Pony EP, released last year. It features on Trixie’s recently-dropped Full Coverage Vol. 1 EP alongside her covers of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games, Cher’s Believe and Violent Femmes’ Blister in the Sun.
