KEiiNO certainly know how to make a cover their own – something previously showcased by their version of A Star Is Born hit Shallow – now the Norwegian schlager icons put their spin on Olivia Rodrigo’s sleeper hit Driver’s License. Turning the mellow pop release into a bouncing electronic europop gem, KEiiNO pack the track with a emotional conviction and heightened sense of musical drama.
The track channels the sense of cautious joy the world is feeling as we gradually progress from various states of lockdown with the main thing on the horizon being a sense of hopefulness. The band further channel this on TikTok with some Klikkedanser (moving as energetic and crazy as possible), as well as plotting how to use the song in home work-outs. You can get a taster of that on the band’s official TikTok.
Driver’s License follows KEiiNO’s previously released Unbreakable and their Melodi Grand Prix anthem Monument – which we’re still feeling a little raw about!
