Hamburg based indie-pop outfit Baked Cat return with a new single, Say, and a video packed with a prescient message just in time for release on the week of International Women’s Day. The band note that Say “deals with losing yourself in order to reach the expectations within a relationship.”
Baked Cat channel classic sixties female-fronted pop in the woozy dramatic melodies of the track. The track also packs an intriguing, hugely relevant feminist message in its music video:
“The accompanying music video that puts the matter in a bigger context and shows four marionettes in a dollhouse. Each figure represents the suppression of women through the decades. Being played on strings, they are trapped in the threads of the patriarchal system.”
