We are not going to pretend we know what is going on in Holy Motors. The motion capture thrusting, Denis Lavant dressed as a monster, Edith Scob crying in the rain and Eva Mendes looking traumatized – it has left us rather bewildered.
However, one thing we do understand about Leos Carax’s Holy Motors is that it stars a stunningly-short haired Kylie Minogue. Kylie’s return to acting (in her first real film since 2000’s awfully good Cut) is something that we should be excited about. She has also contributed the truly beautiful track Who Were We? to the Holy Motors soundtrack.
We’re sure the enigma that is Holy Motors will be another impressive feature for Carax (it made quite an impression on audiences at Cannes). It appears to be a vibrant, visually stunning feature that blurs the lines between dreams and reality.
Holy Motors is out on the 28th of September in the UK. You can view the trailer here and hear Kylie’s stunning Who Were We? below.
