Cyprus really know what they are doing with Eurovision, in the past years giving us anthems such as Eleni’s Fuego, Tamta’s Replay, Sandro’s Running, and even early 2010s banger La La Love from Ivi Adamou. Now they add another modern classic to their cannon with Elena Tsagrinou’s El Diablo.
This is a real slick pop banger with an instantly earworming sing-a-long chorus. Interestingly the track opens with the chorus ensuring it stays with us, whilst the track progresses Elena unveils sultry breathy vocals against soaring electronic-flavoured Mediterranean production. This is a glossy polished delight that continues to showcase that Cyprus takes Eurovision very seriously.
El Diablo is written by Thomas Stengaard, Jimmy “Joker” Thornfeldt, Laurell Barker and Oxa.
