With pulsating synths, Evripidis and His Tragedies returns with a slice of nostalgic eighties inspired pop, Bitter. The track, a collaboration with NYC indie pop duo The Ballet sees Evripidis muse about the fleeting, ever-changing nature of romance with the singer’s expected self-aware, tongue-in-cheek lyrical clout.
The Greek-born singer notes “In Bitter , I wanted to convey a little bit of the feeling that The Smiths’ songs gave me when I was younger — this mixture of romanticism, cynicism, and humour that is kind of camp, but also deeply heartfelt.”
The song was arranged at home by Evripidis and his partner Marc Ribera from Spanish indie pop ensemble Doble Pletina, then handed out to Sergio Perez from Spanish synth-pop duet SVPER to be produced and mixed.
The track also features on Evripidis’s upcoming album Neon Kosmos which will also include previous releases ‘The Reason’, ‘Your Dreams’ (duet with Rachel Kenedy from Flowers), and ‘Melancholia.’ This will be released on March 19th and is available for pre-order here.
