Like most of A Horse with A Horn’s releases, Sleep Paralysis dips into the ups and downs of the queer experience. Lyrics such as “This sleep paralysis, I’m never leavin’ my bed, This sleep paralysis, I think you’re stuck in my head,” see Derek managing to craft rich emotive imagery – especially as his distinctive vocals glide along vibrant mellow electronic beats.
