Duncan Laurence Reveals Debut Studio Album ‘Small Town Boy,’ New Single ‘Last Night’

Eurovision winner Duncan Laurence certainly has not had the 2020 that he was expecting with the cancellation of the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam and his subsequent victory lap. Yet Duncan whet our appetite for new material with his EP Worlds on Fire back in May – and has not kept us waiting too long for her debut album, dubbed Small Town Boy. This arrives on November 13th.

Whilst a tracklist is yet to be confirmed, it is thought that the album will contain the full five track EP as well as Duncan’s most recent single Last Night. A press release notes “On Small Town Boy he not only collaborated with songwriters and producers Brett McLaughlin (Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez) and Bram Inscore (Icona Pop, Mayer Hawthorne), he also produced a large part of the album himself.”

Last Night is a soulful number with Duncan’s vocals adorned with choral vocal effects and shining against up-tempo guitar instrumentation. The track builds to a powerful chorus with Duncan singing: “Last night felt like torture, I swear / We cried over and over again / Sometimes I wish I could hold you / When there ain’t nothing,” with lyrics hinting at damaged relationships, bust-ups, and break-ups. The number is written by Ashley Hicklin, Jordan Garfield, Mikołaj Trybulec & Duncan.

The album is currently available to order in numerous formats – including a clear signed vinyl from Dutch record store Platenzaak.nl.
