Michael Ray Returns With Nineties Inspired Country Jam ‘Whiskey and Rain’

Michael Ray’s 2015 major label debut album still sits as one of our favourite country albums featuring such hits as Kiss You in the Morning and Think a Little Less. Michael followed this with 2018’s introspective Amos which boasted the wonderful Get to You. The singer prepares to embark on his third major label album campaign with his stellar new single Whiskey and Rain.

The track sees the country hunk pay homage to classic George Strait and Gary Allan nineties country with the bittersweet anthem. “Till the bottle runs out or the clouds roll away, it’s just whiskey and rain,” Michael sings in the track’s moody, evocative chorus penned by Josh Thompson and Jesse Frasure. The track is produced by Ross Copperman.

On the new material, Michael notes: “I went to Ross with the idea that I wanted to be my authentic self on this record, because now I truly know who that is. I thought, ‘If we could marry what I love and pair it with his melodic talent to create this 90’s/now sound, I think that would work.’ And it has.” We’re very excited about Michael’s upcoming releases – he has lashings of charisma and the woozy nostalgia conjured up by the track is an interesting sidestep for the singer.
