If you have not fallen head over heels for GESS yet, then you are undoubtedly missing out. The beautiful star has impressing over seventy-thousand monthly listeners on Spotify since his 2018 debut Spilled Milk. GESS now revisits his 2019 treat Clouds with a stripped back acoustic version.
Released to celebrate the track’s one year anniversary and the fact it has almost racked up 200,000 streams, GESS drops this beautiful re-arrangement. The singer originally told Gay Times: “This song is about that feeling. Getting so caught up in your attraction that you lose your composure and start wondering, ‘are you the one?’ before you even really know them.” Yet this gains an added poignancy and nuance heard in GESS’s vocals and the gorgeous backing vocal work. Accompanied by a beautiful piano melody – the acoustic redux of Clouds is an elegant, restrained anthem.
GESS is fresh from celebrating his June collaboration with Shea Couleé and Mykki Blanco, Collide. We’d recommend diving into his discography with highlights including: Darkside, Freezing Warm and Plastic City.
