Iconic horror director and composer John Carpenter may not have stepped behind the camera since 2010’s mixed The Ward – but continues to be a productive force in both the film and music world. Carpenter’s latest solo music releases arrived last week, Skeleton and its B-Side Unclean Spirit which will be released as a twelve-inch single due August 28th via Sacred Bones Records. The tracks make up the first taste of Lost Themes III – Carpenter’s upcoming new album.
Carpenter has found success with his first two Lost Themes album – standalone albums that were comprised of potential themes for his unmade films. The director followed this with a soundtrack album for 2018’s Halloween sequel and is set to score its two upcoming follow-ups Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.
Skeleton delivers Carpenter’s tense brand of synths with a crushing dramatic tension, whilst Unclean Spirit is undeniably darker with a sense of the foreboding building throughout its gothic piano melody.
