Kevin Bacon & Amanda Seyfried Lead Blumhouse’s ‘You Should Have Left’

David Koepp writes and directs You Should Have Left for Blumhouse Productions – based on German author Daniel Kehlmann’s novella of the same name. The haunted house picture reunites Kevin Bacon with Koepp who previously collaborated on horror success Stir of Echoes back in 1999.

You Should Have Left’s official synopsis notes: “Theo Conroy (Bacon) is a successful middle-aged man whose marriage to his much younger actress wife, Susanna (Seyfried) is shredding at the seams, frayed by her secretiveness, his jealousy, and the shadow of his past. In an effort to repair their relationship, Theo and Susanna book a vacation at a stunning, remote modern home in the Welsh countryside for themselves and their six-year-old daughter, Ella (Avery Essex). What at first seems like a perfect retreat distorts into a perfect nightmare when Theo’s grasp on reality begins to unravel and he suspects that a sinister force within the house knows more than he or Susanna have revealed, even to each other.”

Arriving on demand on June 19th the project looks like an enjoyable, twisting and turning horror with the haunted house motif serving as an intriguing way to delve into the psyche’s of our protagonists.

Blumhouse have a busy upcoming slate with two Halloween sequels on the way, Naomi Watts drama Once Upon a Time in Staten Island, and Zu Quirke’s musical prodigy horror Nocturne on the way. Stream the trailer for the upcoming Kevin Bacon starrer above.
