Writer-directors Olivier Ducastel and Jacques Martineau brought us the masterful Theo and Hugo back in 2016 and now return with Don’t Look Down (‘Haut perchés’). The French filmmakers released the project in their native country back in August 2019 and the film has now been given a UK release through premier distributors Peccadillo Pictures.
The official synopsis notes: “In a high-rise apartment, a woman and four men gather to share their experiences of a man that they have all been involved with, to their cost. In the main room, they talk, drink, dance, while one by one, each goes next door for a private moment of truth.”
Don’t Look Down had its UK premiere at 2019’s BFI London Film Festival and was also due to feature at the 2020 BFI Flare Festival which was unfortunately cancelled. The project looks like a taut ride that explores the damaging, unsettling effect of toxic relationships.
