The track encourages us to think about how we will emerge from the coronavirus pandemic, as the country icon croons “When life is good again, I’ll be a better friend,” “I’ll open up my heart and let the whole world in,” and “Let’s open up our hearts and let the love shine in.” Dolly is already a pure soul and we don’t imagine she needs to change her behaviour post-lockdown, but it is a heartwarming message and one that encourages us to reflect on our own attitudes and behaviours.
When Life Is Good Again is accompanied by a subtle video of Dolly revisiting reels from a video projector, interlaced with shots of the key workers that have kept the world rolling through the pandemic. Watch the video below:
