You are a Whore, Darlin’. The Trailer for Showgirls Documentary ‘You Don’t Nomi’ Arrives

The world (mainly gays and cult cinema fans – but what a world!) has been waiting patiently for a Showgirls fan to take a deep dive into the enduring impact and unfaltering appeal of the nineties masterpiece. RLJE Films and writer-director Jeffrey McHale do just that in the upcoming You Don’t Know Me.

Just as Room 237 was like candy for fans of Kubrick and The Shining, You Don’t Nomi looks set to get the pulses of Paul Verhoeven and Showgirls fans racing. The official synopsis notes: “A chorus of film critics and fervent devotees explore the complicated afterlife of 1995’s biggest film flop, Paul Verhoeven’s salacious Showgirls, from disastrous release to cult adoration and extraordinary redemption. The film features Adam Nayman (Vice Guide to Film), April Kidwell (I, Nomi) and Peaches Christ (Milk) as well as archive interview footage with the cast and crew of Showgirls.” It sounds as if no stone is left unturned in this examination of the journey that Showgirls has made and continues to make into the populous.

The love and adoration for Showgirls that is evident from the trailer alone has us confident that this will not be one to miss when it arrives on demand on June 9th.
