Fans have waited fourteen years for a new Dixie Chicks album and their prayers were answered with the unveiling of Gaslighter due for release on May 1st. Unfortunately current circumstances have lead to the delay of the upcoming album, but the ladies have further whetted our appetite with the release of the second track from the album, Julianna Calm Down.
The track is written by Natalie Maines, Julia Michaels, and Jack Antonoff, and follows the release of title track Gaslighter. The band note: “We hope it makes you feel empowered, smile, and strut the f*** around like you’ve got nothing to lose.” It’s a slow burner that starts of near acapella before production ramps up around the two and a half minute mark. This is edgy Dixie Chicks for the 21st Century.
The full tracklist for the album has yet to be released. We’re also waiting for a new official release date for the album.
