Russian pop legend Sergey Lazarev follows February’s Back in Time with a brand new track ‘The Last Day of Pompeii’ (Последний День Помпеи). The standalone track does not feature on Sergey’s most recent Russian language album Eto ya (or in English, This Is Me).
The slow burning ballad (excuse the pun) takes a romantic tone as Sergey sings in the chorus: “Every cell and breath / We are pierced by these notes / I burn in your body / Like the last day of Pompeii” Of course Sergey is kind enough to give us a free history lesson by sharing the story of the city of Pompeii, covered in a mass of molten magma and ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.
Sergey also made a recent appearance in the Russian version of The Masked Singer, маска, appearing in a guest stint for the episode.
