After teasing new Chic material ever since his illustrious comeback with Daft Punk, disco God Nile Rodgers has gone and surprised everyone with new solo single Do What You Wanna Do.
Entertainment Weekly tells us that the track was recorded at last year’s International Music Summit and auctioned off to the highest bidder which turned out to be Mark Brown – owner of the dance music label Cr2 Records. Brown is releasing the track with a bunch of remixes on August 10.
Do What You Wanna Do deserves be a Summer smash – it has an immediate hook whilst sounding in equal parts modern and truthful to Rodger’s disco back catalogue. We cannot wait to hear what he is cooking up with Chic now.
